FM26 editors compared

Three tools can edit a Football Manager 2026 save while you play. FM Live Editor, the official In-Game Editor from Sports Interactive, and FMRTE. This page shows what each one can do. It also shows what the other two do better.

In short

In-Game Editor. Made by the people who make the game. It sits inside FM, so there is no second window. It is the only one that can set up a transfer that happens later in the season.

FMRTE. Reaches wider in some areas. It also edits competitions, match officials and nation agreements. It can change staff and clubs in bulk, not only players.

FM Live Editor. The smallest and the cheapest of the three. Every change you make goes into a list, and one click puts it back.

Not started your save yet? Then you may not need any of these. The free Pre-Game Editor in your Steam or Epic library changes the world database before a new game begins. This page is only about editing a save while you play.

We are not neutral. We make one of these three tools. So we wrote down how we checked every line, and we listed the things the other two do better. Please do not just count the ticks. Some lines matter far more than others, and only you know which ones matter to you.

How we checked. We opened all three on the same save, on the same day. We went through every screen of every tool. We did not guess. If a box says no, it means we looked and did not find it. We checked this in September 2026. Tools change, so please check anything that matters to you. Each price is a one-time payment and includes VAT.

Which one should you pick?

In-Game Editor

Pick it if you want the simplest option, or if you need to set up a transfer for later in the season. No other tool can do that one.

FMRTE

Pick it if you edit competitions or match officials, or if you change staff and clubs in bulk as often as you change players.

FM Live Editor

Pick it if you edit a lot and want to take it back. Everything you change goes into a list, and one click undoes it. That was in our first release in January 2026, and it is still the part we care about most.

You do not have to pick only one. Plenty of people keep two.
